22 dead as Afghan refugee truck returning from Pakistan overturns

At least 22 people died, and 36 others were injured after a truck carrying Afghan refugees returning from Pakistan overturned on a highway in eastern Afghanistan on Saturday, officials said. The vehicle plunged into a ditch when the driver reportedly fell asleep, officials said, adding that most victims were women and children. Pakistan has been deporting Afghan migrants since 2023.
