2.3 lakh people killed in Indian Ocean tsunami 13 years ago

An over 9-magnitude earthquake off the coast of Sumatra, Indonesia set off a tsunami on December 26, 2004, killing 2,30,000 people. The quake was the second strongest ever recorded and the death toll made it one of the 10 worst of all time. It is estimated that the tsunami had two times the energy of all bombs used during WWII.
