24 lives lost in road accidents on NH-6 in 4 months in Meghalaya
At least 24 people have died in road accidents across Ri Bhoi in Meghalaya since January, most along NH-6 and the Shillong Bypass. Police blame overspeeding, drunk driving, illegal parking and overloaded trucks. Some victims remain unidentified. In a recent crackdown, police collected nearly ₹2.99 lakh in fines in one night for traffic violations under the Motor Vehicle Act.
