24-yr-old who attacked Salman Rushdie onstage in NY identified as Hadi Matar

A 24-year-old man named Hadi Matar has been taken into custody after he stabbed 'The Satanic Verses' author Salman Rushdie onstage in New York. Matar, who is from New Jersey, stabbed Rushdie at least once in the neck and the stomach, Major Eugene Staniszewski of New York State Police said. Rushdie is on ventilator after the attack, his agent said.
