25% people in 80 countries think husband beating wife justifiable: UN report

Over 25% of people in 80 countries believe that a man beating his wife is justifiable, according to a report released by UN Development Programme. The Gender Social Norms Index (GSNI) noted that prejudices remain "deeply embedded" in society along with cultural bias and pressures that hinder women's empowerment.
