250-pound dolphin defies gravity with a 20-ft leap, naturalist shares pic

Naturalist Bernardo Alps captured a rare moment in the Pacific where a 250-pound dolphin leapt nearly 20 feet above sea level. The feat is powered by their strong tail muscles which generate immense thrust by rapidly moving them up. Dolphins also gain height by swimming upward at high speed, converting kinetic energy into potential energy as they break the surface.
