2,600-year-old-cheese found inside ancient clay pots in Egyptian tomb
Archaeologists have discovered several blocks of Halloumi cheese dating back 2,600 years in clay pots in an ancient tomb in the Saqqara necropolis in Egypt. Halloumi is a traditional Cypriot cheese with a high melting point made from a mixture of goat's and sheep's milk, and sometimes cow's milk. A researcher said ancient Egyptians referred to Halloumi cheese as 'Haram'.
