3 never-documented species of Himalayan pit viper discovered

A study found that the venomous snake Himalayan pit viper is five distinct species, including three never documented before. The researchers used DNA analysis, skeletal anatomy and ecological observations to identify the snakes in Pakistan and Nepal. It was earlier believed Himalayan pit viper, first discovered in 1864, was single widespread but little-studied species found across Himalayan range.
