30 Muslim women being trained to become 'qazis'

According to reports, the Bharatiya Muslim Mahila Andolan (BMMA) is currently training as many as 30 Indian Muslim women in Koranic law, constitutional law, and gender rights to help them become 'qazis' or judges. Traditionally, the role of a qazi, who regulates matters such as marriage, divorce, and inheritance using the Muslim civil code, is reserved for men.
