30 World Cup nations face extra costs as FIFA fails to agree to US tax deal

Around 30 of 48 nations that have qualified for World Cup 2026 are set to face increased costs and losses after FIFA failed to agree on tax exemption with US government. Around 18 countries signed double taxation agreement (DTA) with US, which exempts their delegations from paying taxes. Athletes working in US are required to pay tax on their earnings.
