30-yr-old man set to be 1st black African in space dies in bike crash

Mandla Maseko, a 30-year-old set to become the first black African in space, died in a bike crash. In a 2013 competition, he beat a million entrants to be one of 23 people to travel on an hour-long sub-orbital trip. Originally scheduled to fly in 2015, no plans of his trip were made public at the time of his death.
