Former badminton player from Karnataka, Prakash Padukone won the All England Championships on March 23, 1980, becoming the first Indian to do so. In the same year, the former World number one won the Danish Open and the Swedish Open. Andhra Pradesh-born Shri Pullela Gopichand is the only other Indian to win the All England Championships, in 2001.
