4,500 Google employees seek stronger layoff protections amid AI boom
Over 4,500 Google employees have signed a petition urging CEO Sundar Pichai to introduce stronger layoff protections amid AI efforts. They are seeking better severance pay, voluntary buyouts, paid leave and an end to performance quotas. "These layoffs are not difficult decisions, but simply profit being put over the people," said Parul Koul, President of the Alphabet Workers Union.
