4.9 magnitude earthquake hits Iran's southern region

An earthquake of magnitude 4.9 struck Iran’s Hormozgan province on Tuesday, Iranian state media said. The epicentre was located about 113 km northeast of Bandar Abbas, and no casualties were reported. Iran has experienced nine earthquakes in past 30 days. While some reports speculated about a link to secret bomb testing, no credible evidence has emerged to support such claims.
