40% Indians slip below poverty line after hospital bills: Dr. Rao

KIMS founder Dr B. Bhaskar Rao revealed a startling fact of patients above the poverty line falling below it after paying hospital bills. He warned that with bed costs surging from ₹10 lakh in 2007 to ₹2.5 crore today, healthcare has become almost unaffordable. Health insurance, he stressed, is the only viable solution.
