41 fined ₹2.6L for stealing 100 kgs of sand, shells, rocks in Italy

The customs police in Italy fined 41 people 3000 euros (nearly ₹2.67 lakh) after they tried to leave Sardinia with 100 kilograms of sand, seashells and beach rocks. In some cases, tourists had put the items up for sale on the internet, a news agency said. The seized sand was brought back by authorities to the beaches when possible.
