4,970 bottles of cough syrup containing banned drug seized in Mumbai

The Anti Narcotics Cell of Mumbai Police has seized 4,970 bottles of cough syrup containing the banned narcotic drug 'codeine'. According to the police, the recovered syrup is worth ₹22 lakhs in the international market. Police have registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and arrested five peddlers from the Mazgaon area of the city.
