5 more arrested in ₹35-crore TVK MLA bribery probe

Chennai police have arrested five more people in the probe linked to an alleged ₹35-crore attempt to bribe TVK MLA N Elaiyaraja, taking the total arrested to eight. The accused conspired to bribe the MLA to make him vote in favour of a proposed no-confidence motion against the speaker, police said. Elaiyaraja said he was threatened for rejecting the bribe.
