5 unmarried couples publicly whipped in Indonesia for holding hands

Five unmarried couples were whipped in Indonesia's Aceh province on Thursday by Sharia police after they were caught cuddling and holding hands, or in some cases having sex, a crime under the conservative region's Islamic law. They received between 4-22 strokes outside a mosque, after serving months in prison. Hundreds of spectators, including children, watched as they were being whipped.
