50,000 small homes in Mumbai will now pay sewage tax to BMC

The BMC plans to introduce a sewage charge on more than 50,000 smaller homes in Mumbai from next year as it looks to strengthen municipal revenue. The proposal targets properties that have historically benefited from property-tax exemptions, particularly smaller homes. The additional revenue could support Mumbai's sewerage infrastructure and other civic services.
