54-yr-old US man dies after eating bags of black liquorice candy for weeks

A 54-year-old US construction worker died after eating a bag and a half of black liquorice daily for a few weeks. He collapsed while having lunch at a restaurant, following which he was given CPR and he revived, but he died the next day. Glycyrrhizic acid found in black liquorice can cause dangerously low potassium and imbalances in other minerals.
