563 newborns named after Norway's FIFA World Cup hero Erling Haaland

Peru's National Registry of Identification and Civil Status said as many as 563 newborns have been named after Norway striker Erling Haaland. The registrations increased during the FIFA World Cup 2026, particularly after Norway defeated Brazil to reach the quarter-finals. Haaland scored twice against Brazil and has netted seven goals in the tournament.
