5G core network should be Indian, must build it faster: IT Minister

IT and Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Thursday said the 5G core network should be Indian. "We lagged in 2G, 3G and 4G, but in 5G, India should move...faster than the world," he added, stating that a 5G testbed for trials is ready. The Department of Telecommunications had earlier set a target for 5G trials as 2019.
