6.7-magnitude earthquake strikes Peru; no casualties reported

A powerful 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck Peru on Thursday, with ​the epicentre located 31 kilometres (19.26 miles) northwest of ​Aniso in the Andes Mountains. There were no immediate reports of casualties, and no tsunami threat was issued. Earthquakes are common in Peru, which lies on the southeastern edge of Pacific “Ring of Fire,” known for frequent seismic activity.
