6 die in Assam-Meghalaya border firing, internet shut in 7 Meghalaya districts

Six persons, including an Assam forest official, died in firing at the Assam-Meghalaya border after the Assam forest department intercepted a truck allegedly transporting illegal timber. Meghalaya has suspended internet services in seven districts, namely West Jaintia Hills, East Jaintia Hills, East Khasi Hills, Ri-Bhoi, Eastern West Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills.
