60-foot-wide crater forms as SpaceX rocket crashes into Moon at 8,700 kmph, pics released
NASA has released before-and-after images of a 60-foot-wide crater created after a discarded SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket stage crashed into Moon on August 5. The rocket hit at around 8,700 kmph after drifting through space for over a year. NASA said the crater is less than 10 feet deep, with debris from the collision spreading across the lunar surface.
