6.2 magnitude quake hits Northern California, no damage reported

Authorities on Monday said Northern California was hit by a 6.2 magnitude offshore earthquake, near the Cape Mendocino area. The initial quake was followed by aftershocks that caused items to fall off shelves. No injuries or major damage was reported. The quake struck at 12:10 pm local time, at a depth of 9 km (5.6 miles) in the Pacific Ocean.
