6-month cooling period for divorce can be waived: SC

The Supreme Court on Tuesday held that the minimum six-month cooling period for granting of divorce under Hindu law can be waived by a trial court if all reconciliation efforts have failed. The court can use its discretion in each case and decide whether delaying proceedings will only prolong subsequent resettlement, it added.
