7,000 flights cancelled or delayed in US amid telecom outage

About 7,000 flights were cancelled or delayed across US on Monday, including around 1,400 at three major New York airports, after workers accidentally damaged a telecommunications line in New Jersey. More than 100 flights were also diverted to other airports. The incident disrupted air travel as around 130 world leaders were due to arrive in New York for the UNGA.
