A 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck near Panama's southern tip on Friday, triggering a tsunami alert for 9 countries including Colombia, Costa Rica, and Mexico. Tremors were felt in Panama City and Costa Rica's capital. The Panama Canal operated normally. Damage was reported in Veraguas, Herrera, and Los Santos provinces. The tsunami threat has since passed.
