7-hour Ghodbunder Road blockade ends after police lathi charge

Supporters of slain Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Pradeep Purnekar blocked Ghodbunder Road in Thane from 10 pm Tuesday, demanding arrest of ex-mayor Meenakshi Shinde and her husband. Traffic halted for 7 hours across 20 km. Police used lathi charge at Manpada to disperse protesters around 5 am. Full traffic normalcy was restored only by 11 am Wednesday.
