7 people died in Mumbai local trains every day in last 20 years

Over 51,000 people have died on Mumbai's suburban trains in the past 20 years, according to affidavits submitted to the Bombay High Court by Western Railway and Central Railway. The high fatality rates are attributed to overcrowding, trespassing, and encroachments. The railways have requested the court's assistance to implement safety measures and reduce fatalities on the tracks.
