70% water samples near abandoned Union Carbide factory in Bhopal found contaminated

Bhopal gas survivors' organisations claimed nearly 70% of drinking water samples collected from areas around the abandoned Union Carbide factory tested positive for faecal coliform, indicating contamination. Of 63 tap water samples collected from 30 localities this month, 43 were found contaminated. Residents living near factory alleged they have been suffering from diarrhoea, and typhoid.
