75 years ago today, India adopted its National Anthem

On 24 January 1950, the Constituent Assembly met for the last time and President Rajendra Prasad issued a statement adopting Jana Gana Man as the National Anthem. Due to poor reporting by the British press on the day, the anthem has been incorrectly perceived as an ode to King George-V. The anthem is actually an ode to God.
