7.5-magnitude earthquake hits Russia's Kuril Islands; tsunami warning issued

The US Geological Survey reported that a 7.5-magnitude earthquake has struck in Russia's far eastern Kuril Islands on Wednesday. The quake was felt across the region with a depth of 56.7 km and there are no reports of damage or casualties yet. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said hazardous tsunami waves were possible within 1,000 km of the epicentre.
