8 acquitted in India's last known sati case

A special court in Jaipur on Wednesday acquitted eight people accused of glorifying Roop Kanwar's death, which occurred 37 years ago in Sikar and is considered the last known case of sati in India. The court gave the eight accused benefit of the doubt. Initially, 45 people were accused of glorifying Roop's death, with 25 accused being acquitted in 2004.
