8 boys beaten, excrement smeared on faces at Gujarat shelter

A house mother at a Gujarat shelter home is accused of beating eight boys under 14, hurling abuses and smearing human excrement on their faces. Latifa Begum faces an FIR following a complaint by the district child protection officer. The alleged abuse reportedly continued throughout May, leaving the children traumatised. Police are also probing alleged negligence by shelter management.
