8 Indonesian airports shut due to volcanic eruption, 1.7 lakh affected

Around eight airports in Indonesia were shut on Monday after volcanic ash from eruptions at Mount Anak Krakatau disrupted flights. The volcano, located between Java and Sumatra, has blanketed Jakarta and surrounding areas with ash since erupting late Friday. Flight cancellations have reportedly affected 1,70,000 people. Jakarta’s main airport will remain closed until 6 pm local time.
