800-kg wild gaur that wandered over 300-km rescued in Tamil Nadu

An 800-kg wild gaur that wandered over 300 km from Tiruchirappalli forests to the coastal region of Pamban has been released into a reserve forest in Tamil Nadu's Dindigul. The gaur spent nearly a month moving through human-dominated areas before being captured. Nearly 100 personnel took part in the operation, which included a 13-hour capture effort and nine-hour translocation journey.
