8,000 people vacate their homes in Germany as WW II bomb detonated

Over 8,000 people had to vacate their homes in Germany's Hanover city after a British bomb from World War II was detonated in a controlled explosion on a field. The residents were asked to take with them necessary items, including medicines and were housed at a local school while the operation was conducted. The aerial bomb weighed 500 kg.
