80,000 cases of tax litigation are pending before CESTAT: Report

About 80,000 cases of tax litigation are reportedly pending before the Customs Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT). Revenue Secretary Sanjay Malhotra has said the government will set up a committee to suggest measures to reduce tax litigation. He said bringing clarity in tax laws will help in reducing litigation as pendency of litigation has been a constant challenge.
