The Income-tax Department has witnessed a remarkable surge in Income-tax Returns (ITRs) filing for the Assessment Year 2023-2024, setting a new record of 8.18 crore ITRs submitted by December 31, 2023. This marks a notable 9% increase compared to the previous year, indicating growing compliance and participation in the tax filing process among taxpayers for the said assessment year.
