8,343 Indian prisoners lodged in foreign jails: Govt
The Ministry of External Affairs on Friday said 8,343 Indian prisoners are lodged in foreign jails. This number includes undertrials, Minister of State V Muraleedharan told the Lok Sabha, adding that the government attaches the highest priority to the safety of Indians in foreign countries. Agreements for transfer of sentenced persons have been signed with 31 countries, he said.
