85% of under-16s in Australia still using social media despite ban: Study

More than 85% of under-16s in Australia are still using social media despite a ban introduced in December last year, a study has found. Researchers tracked 408 adolescents aged 12-16, surveying them before the law took effect in December 2025 and again three months later. The study found that 54%-68% of the underage users were still using their own accounts.
