85-year-old loses ₹9 crore in 'digital arrest' in Mumbai

An 85-year-old man from Mumbai's Thakurdwar area was cheated of nearly ₹9 crore after fraudsters trapped him in a so-called "digital arrest" by posing as police officers on a WhatsApp video call. The scammers falsely accused him of money laundering and terror financing, and coerced him into transferring the money to multiple bank accounts.
