Declaring the institutions as fake, the UGC has posted a list of 21 self-styled, unrecognized institutions functioning across India on its official website. With 9 such universities, UP topped the list among all the states. Few of the notable names are Indian Institute of Alternative Medicine, Kolkata; Indian Institute of Science and Engineering, New Delhi; Uttar Pradesh Vishwavidyalaya, Mathura (UP).
