9-mn-yr-old fossil of ancestor of great white shark found in Peru

A nine-million-year-old fossil of a relative of the great white shark was discovered in Peru on Monday. The fossil was found in an area, known for frequent discoveries of ancient marine species. The now-extinct shark, believed to be an ancestor of the great white shark, had teeth spanning up to 8.9 cm (3.5 inches) in length.
