Amid heavy rainfall, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange alert for Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Assam and Meghalaya. The IMD has also issued red alert for parts of Uttarakhand. The IMD asked people to avoid areas prone to water logging, and to stay away from vulnerable structures.
