99-million-yr-old insect found, named after Teletubbies character 'Noo-Noo'
Scientists at Israel's Steinhardt Museum of Natural History discovered a new dinosaur-era insect species that lived 99 million years ago, preserved in tree resin that hardened into amber. Researchers named it Cretodorus noonoo, or 'Noo-Noo', after a vacuum cleaner from the children's TV show 'Teletubbies'. Noo-Noo belonged to an ancient family of planthoppers known as the Neazoniidae.
