A chicken once lived for 18 months without a head

A chicken named Mike once lived for 18 months without a head in 1940s in USA after a farmer axed his head, but missed jugular vein. Most of Mike's brainstem was left mostly intact, ensuring enough brain function required for survival. Mike was fed water and liquid food via eyedropper directly into oesophagus. Mike reportedly died by choking on corn.
